Frog or Toad, Japanese call them "KAERU" that is same meaning as "Return" "Back". Traditionally Japanese liked to have them(as Netsuke or carved stone ornament) for safe return from a trip or Money that they spent comes back. This Toad is sitting on "SENMAN-RYO" gold coin. Senman-ryo is like Ten million dollars that represents lots of money. The Gold coin is carved from another piece of Antler and dyed by Sumi ink and YASHA.

In Japan, Bats have been admired as animals bringing happiness and are featured in design of lucky patterns.
Bat is called "Komori" in Japanese that is exactly the same ward/pronunciation of "Umbrella=Komori". I carved this bat like an Umbrella with Japanese traditional clouds design look like wings' end.

*Ko-mori means Bat in Japanese, but I made this piece has two meanings by adding a baby bat. "Komori" means nursing baby. So this Netsuke is "Ko-mori's KOMORI". (hope you understand what I mean)
